Cabin Transport – Pets (PETC)

The transport of pets in the cabin is a paid service.
Fee: 80,000 MGA.

The animals permitted are: cats, dogs, and small birds.
The total weight (animal + carrier) must not exceed 7 kg.
The carrier must be rigid, IATA-approved, and placed under the seat in front of the passenger.

The PETC service can be booked through all channels: website, agency, call center, or directly at the airport.

Pets traveling in the cabin are no longer included in the baggage allowance.
Veterinary checks and inspection of the carrier are mandatory.

Transport in Hold – Live Animals (AVIH)

Transporting an animal in the cargo hold is a paid service.
Fee: 190,000 MGA.

Acceptance of AVIH is handled only at the airport and depends on operational constraints: aircraft load, available space, and weather conditions.

Animals are transported in a ventilated and pressurized cargo hold.
The crate must be IATA-approved, checked at check-in, and the total weight (animal + crate) must be less than or equal to 32 kg.

The animal will be returned to its owner upon arrival by our qualified staff.

Traveling with Pets: Essential Information

PETC and AVIH services are no longer included in the baggage allowance.

They are charged separately, regardless of the passenger’s baggage weight or number of checked items.

Booking and Acceptance Channels

PETC: Can be booked online, through an agency, via the call center, or at the airport.
AVIH: Available only at the airport.

Traveling with Pets: Domestic Flight Specifics

Size Restrictions

  • Cage Size Limitations: For domestic flights, the size of your pet's carrier may restrict its acceptance on board.

  • Mandatory Reservations: Reservations are required for all pets traveling on domestic flights. Please provide the exact dimensions of the pet carrier when making your reservation.

Acceptance of different types of animals:

You can travel with your pet in the cabin provided it is:

  • Dog
  • Cat
  • Small tame bird (canary, parakeet)
  • Small rodent (rabbit, hamster, guinea pig)
  • To ensure the comfort and safety of your pet during your trip, please respect the following conditions:
  • Container: The transport container must be rigid (plastic, metal or wicker), clean and large enough to allow the animal to stand and turn. The maximum authorised dimensions are 115 cm (length + width + height) for a total weight (animal + container) not exceeding 5 kg.
  • Placement on board: The animal must remain in its container under the constant supervision of the passenger throughout the flight.
  • Restrictions: Children travelling alone or accompanied by a baby cannot carry animals. The number of animals per flight is limited to 3..
  • Pets may be transported in the cabin if the total weight (animal + cage) does not exceed 5 kg.
  • For heavier animals, transport in the hold may be considered.

Transport of a live animal exclusively in the cargo hold, accepted at check-in (AVIH 1)

To ensure a safe and comfortable journey for your pet, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Required Documentation

  • Up-to-date health certificate: A current health certificate is mandatory for all pets traveling in the cargo hold.

Transport Container

  • IATA-approved container: The transport container must be sturdy, durable, and appropriately sized for your pet.
  • IATA certification: The container must meet International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards for animal transport.

Weight and Dimensions

  • Combined weight limit: The total weight of the pet and its container must not exceed 32 kilograms.
  • Container size restrictions: The overall dimensions of the container cannot exceed 158 centimeters.

Specific Conditions

  • Individual containers: Each pet must be placed in its own container, unless the animals are accustomed to living together.
  • Sufficient space: The container must provide ample space for your pet to stand, turn, and lie down comfortably.

Note: For more detailed information on specific requirements, such as vaccinations, microchipping, and import/export regulations, please contact your veterinarian or the relevant authorities in your destination country well in advance of your trip.

  • Only one piece of luggage allowed: Your pet counts as additional luggage. If the total weight of your luggage and the transport cage does not exceed the allowance, no additional charge will be applied.
  • Two bags allowed: Your pet is included in your baggage allowance. You can therefore transport your pet and your luggage at no extra cost, within the limit of your deductible.
  • Overweight: If the total weight of your luggage and pet exceeds the deductible, additional charges will apply.
Transport of live animal exclusively in the hold, accepted as CARGO (AVIH 2).

Dogs and Cats

Required Documents:

  • Air transport letter
  • Up-to-date vaccination record
  • Import and/or export permit (if required)
  • Shipper's certificate (2 copies)
  • Acceptance checklist (2 copies)

Transport Container:

  • Safety: Rigid, securely assembled, and equipped with a sealed door.
  • Comfort: Large enough for the animal to stand up, turn around, and lie down.
  • Hygiene: Clean, leakproof, and lined with absorbent bedding.
  • Ventilation: Openings on the sides and rear, covered with mesh (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm for dogs, 1.9 cm x 1.9 cm for cats).
  • Marking: Clearly visible "LIVE ANIMALS" labels that comply with IATA regulations.

Limitations:

  • Maximum 2 animals per cargo hold section.

Day-Old Ducklings and Chicks

Required Documents:

  • Air transport letter
  • Shipper's certificate (2 copies)
  • Acceptance checklist (2 copies)

Transport Container:

  • Safety: Sturdy, well-assembled, and leakproof.
  • Comfort: Floor covered with plastic and absorbent material, divided into compartments.
  • Ventilation: Openings on all sides and top, with perforated dividers.
  • Marking: Clearly visible "LIVE ANIMALS" labels that comply with IATA regulations.

Limitations:

  • Maximum 50 animals per standard container (46 cm x 26 cm x 15 cm).
  • Maximum 100 kg per cargo hold section.

General Conditions:

  • Health: Only healthy animals are accepted.
  • Regulations: Containers and markings must comply with IATA regulations.

Note: To ensure a smooth journey for your pet, we recommend contacting your veterinarian well in advance of your trip to obtain the necessary health certificates and vaccinations. Additionally, it is crucial to book your pet's flight as early as possible, as space for pets in the cargo hold is limited.

  • Live animals (AVI): The tariff is increased by 175% compared to the ordinary freight tariff.
  • Day-old chicks: The rate is identical to the regular freight rate.

ESAN: Emotional Support Animal or emotional support dog without muzzle of an invalid passenger.

It provides people with motor and visual disabilities with technical assistance on a daily basis: pick up an object, open doors and cupboards, turn on the light, etc.

To ensure a smooth journey, please have the following documents ready:

  • Official Documentation: Your disability certificate and your service dog's identification and vaccination records are essential.
  • Safety Equipment: A safety harness with a restraint system is mandatory to ensure the safety of your dog and fellow passengers during all phases of the flight.

Additional Information:

  • Muzzle: A muzzle is not required for service dogs.
  • Quota: Service dogs are exempt from the usual quotas for pets carried in the cabin.
  • Emergency Seats: For safety reasons, emergency seats are reserved and not available to passengers requiring specific assistance.
  • No taxation regardless of the size of the dog

CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE OF DOGS IN THE CABIN AND CARGO :

Prohibited Dog Breeds for In-Cabin or Cargo Transportation

Category 1: Aggressive Dogs*Dogs that are not registered with a recognized kennel club (such as the French Stud Book) are prohibited from travel. This includes the following breeds:
