Excess Baggage Fees and Policies

Excess baggage fees and conditions vary depending on your destination and when you purchase your additional baggage allowance.

Domestic Flights within Madagascar

If you have more baggage than allowed:

  • Extra Bag (Additional Piece): If you have one more bag than included in your ticket, and this bag weighs a maximum of 20 kg, you will need to pay an additional fee of 190,000 MGA.

If your bag is heavier than allowed:

Excess weight on a single piece of luggage: If your single allowed piece of luggage weighs more than the 20kg limit, here are the additional charges to expect:

  • Less than 3 kg overweight: 60,000 MGA (Approximately €15) surcharge.
  • 3 kg overweight: 90,000 MGA (approximately €23) surcharge.
  • Between 3 kg and less than 4 kg overweight: 120,000 MGA (approximately €23) surcharge.
  • Between 4 kg and less than 5 kg overweight: 150,000 MGA (approximately €38) surcharge.
  • More than 5 kg overweight: 190,000 MGA (approximately €48) surcharge.
  • Good to Know for Your Madagascar Flight:
    • Excess baggage for domestic flights can only be purchased at the airport on the day of your flight.

  • Purchase Options: Primarily online (cheaper), also available at the airport (more expensive).
  • Types of Fees: Additional baggage (per piece), overweight, oversized. Prices vary significantly by destination.
  • Weight Limits: Maximum 23 kg per bag.

Corsair:

  • Purchase Options: Online (during or after booking), also available at the airport (more expensive).
  • Types of Fees: Additional baggage (per piece), overweight (flat fee in Economy), oversized (significant fees). Prices vary by destination.
  • Weight Limits: Maximum 23 kg per bag.

Regional Flights from Madagascar

  • Number of Bags: The number of bags is limited based on onboard availability.
  • Fees:
    • Advance Purchase: €70 for 1 extra bag up to 20 kg, then €50 per additional kg up to 9 kg.
    • For Oversized Baggage (>159 cm): €80 per additional kg.
  • Conditions:
    • Maximum weight per bag: 20 kg
    • Maximum dimensions: 158 cm (length + width + height)
